The Alberta Government has launched a formal stakeholder and public consultation process on a new draft policy with the objective of maximizing the impact of provincial funding to achieve measurable impacts on Albertans' activity levels, health and quality of life.

The draft policy is based on research regarding the many benefits associated with participation in recreation, active living and sport, such as improved mental and physical health, improved education outcomes, strengthened communities and economic benefits.
