Freund Competes on Canadian Team in Mexico |
|

Special recognition goes to competitive swimmer, Kaelan Freund, who recently competed for Team Canada in Mexico against the top US & Mexican swimmers at the North American Challenge Cup in Puerto Vallarta on August 4-6th.
Kaelan had a 7th place finals finish in 100 breaststroke, 9th place finish in 200 breaststroke and posted best times in two other events. The tour involved a gruelling schedule for the team as the swimmers were competing in Montreal for Age Group Nationals from July 26-July 31 and then immediately travelled to Mexico for training camp and competition.
Freund credits his 2010-2011 season coach Mike Pinder with the LA Swim Club and former coaches, Theresa Zunich with the Kamloops Classic Swim Club and Jen Kabeary from LASC for developing his technique and fine-tuning his performance, putting him among the fastest swimmers in North America.
In order to be selected for the team, a swimmer must be ranked top nationally in an event as of March 31st, 2011. Kaelan was selected in the 200 Individual Medley event. 80 swimmers represented Canada and competed against teams from Mexico and the United States. Canada won and brought home the North American Challenge Cup for the 5th consecutive year!
